BETH - WOOD OPENING DAY CEREMONIES
APRIL 24, 2010

Opening Day Ceremonies for the Beth - Wood Baseball League {B - W} are planned for Saturday, April 24, 2010. This year the B - W will be celebrating its 38th year of providing a quality Baseball program in the community – this event draws hundreds of families / friends / residents of Bethany and Woodbridge to the Town Center Green for a wonderful Ceremony that kicks off the Baseball / Softball Seasons. The Beth – Wood Softball Little League will also be joining the B - W for this Ceremony, as they have done the past few years.

Beth – Wood Baseball, courtesy of the New Britain Rock Cats organization, will again be running a radar gun booth at Opening Day so all Players can test their arm speeds and have a chance to win valuable prizes. The Rock Cats will also be hosting a Hit, Run & Throw Competition at Center Field immediately following the Ceremony for all Players ages 10 & under – Jeremy Conn in 2008 won the competition for the entire State of CT along with a $ 1,000. donation to the League from the Rock Cats. Who is going to be our next champion !!

We expect many Local and State dignitaries to attend as in years past – Bethany First Selectman, Woodbridge First Selectman, hopefully Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, State Senator Joe Crisco, State Representative Themis Klarides, among many others …

Many Community Groups like the Woodbridge Garden Club, Boy Scouts, World Champion Tae Kwon Do of Woodbridge (who performed a wonderful demonstration at our 2009 Opening Day), Woodbridge Volunteer Fire Association & Bethany Volunteer Fire Department with various apparatus for the kids to see / explore, Beecher Road School Band marching our Players in, among many others who will again be present to support this huge community event --

Any Community Group that would like to become a part of our Opening Day Ceremonies may contact Dwight C. Rowland, Beth – Wood President at drowland@tcco.com …

Below please find a few photos taken during our Ceremonies in previous years – in 2009, we had a beautiful day and a great time was had by all !! We hope to see you all there – come out to support not our League but more importantly the kids … You don’t want to miss it !!
